Notes on Revelations 10 and 11 3rd Interlude – After trumpets 1-6 and before 7th Trumpet The sixth trumpet marks the signs immediately before the Second coming of Christ. John uses this interlude to flash back to his readers and share with them what we are to be doing right up to the coming of the Lord. Sharing Christ. Chapter 10 Another Mighty Angel (vs.1) – Revealing to a new interlude - on behalf of Jesus who sits under the sign of the Noahic covenant, a rainbow. A little scroll (vs.2) - the gospel of Jesus Christ is represented as a scroll He set his right foot on the sea and his left foot on the land (vs.2) – Shows that the gospel has been preached to the world. Seven peals of thunder were to be sealed up (vs.4) – The vision of John was secondary to the Gospel. Get out and preach the gospel, and do our job. In the day of the seventh trumpet the mystery of God would be fulfilled (vs.7)– The gospel opportunity is concluded at the second coming of Christ, no more chances. Take and eat…bitter…it will be sweet as honey (vs. 10) – The gospel will have a twofold effect upon the hearer. Sweet as honey (Psalm 19:10) to those that repent and for those that reject Christ, His Word will be bitter to them. (2 Cor 2:15,16) You must again prophesy (vs.11) – The gospel to must be preach to Gentiles and all peoples right up to the last trumpet Chapter 11 I was given a measuring rod(vs.1) – Given to John, told to measure the inner sanctuary of God, but not the outer sanctuary of the Gentiles. The true church (Phil 2:2,3) will continue and the unsaved world will be the focus of the preaching. it is given over to the nations, and they will trample the holy city for forty-two months (vs.2) – Luke 21:24 records “and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.” The 42 months or 1260 days or 3 ½ days represents the “time of the Gentiles” or the time period that the gospel is to be preached. Second half of Daniel’s vision (Dan 9:27) after Christ’s ministry of 3 ½ years, He makes the eternal covenant with us in His blood. They have the power to shut the sky, that no rain may fall during the days (vs. 6) – The power of the Gospel will be greater than those of the miracles of Elijah and Moses (John 14:12) will gaze at their dead bodies….those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them… after the three and a half days a breath of life from God entered them (vs. 9-12) – Christians will be persecuted for the entire time until Christ returns, but they will rise in the resurrection and rapture. Seven thousand people were killed in the earthquake, and the rest were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven. (vs.13) – Just when the it seems that the believers are defeated God intervenes and restores His remnant to Himself. |
